Eco - The Forest Bowl Basket

An open ceramic forest bowl with a plantable calendar, candles and cork, in a rope basket.

A three-inch ceramic bowl holds preserved moss and flowers with no cover over them — open to the air, and still zero-maintenance. Around it the basket splits cleanly between the desk and the living room. Sandalwood incense made from upcycled flowers finishes it.

• The bowl is unusual because it is open. Most preserved-forest pieces sit under glass or acrylic; this one can be touched, and it still needs no water.
• The calendar and the cork sticky pad go to the desk; the candles, cards and incense stay in the living room. Two gifts in one basket rather than one diluted.
• Thirteen plantable calendar cards carrying marigold, tulsi and tomato seed. The incense is made from upcycled flowers and the candles are beeswax rather than paraffin.
• A woven jute-cotton rope basket, 8" across, with a fitted lid. It is the part of the gift that stays in the house — as desk storage, or a fruit bowl.
