Eco - The Ganesha Case

Two pieces, and the first one carries it. A four-inch Ganesha stands in preserved moss and flowers under a clear acrylic cover on a recycled-polymer base — sealed, so it needs nothing done to it. Two 30 ml honeys and a beeswax candle sit beside it in a fitted tray.

• The terrarium is a permanent object. Preserved forest under a sealed cover asks for no water, no light and no replacement — it is still on the desk a year later.
• Two pieces rather than six. A four-inch terrarium is a shelf object, where six smaller things would be a drawer of oddments.
• The beeswax candle burns from a honey byproduct rather than a petroleum distillate, and the two 30 ml honeys beside it are raw and unprocessed. The terrarium base is recycled polymer.
• The smallest of the Emerald Forest three: rigid MDF in forest-green rexine, gold foil inside the lid, ivory ruched satin in the base, with a brass clasp and twisted gold rope handles.
